We were together again, after a two day break. I think I was happier to see the kids than they were to see me. Although Bayla half-heartedly assured me: "we missed you too Mrs. nelson..." I really did miss them though: China seemed less vibrant and alive without their excitement and laughter.
We began the day at Suzhou 10, which is more a garden and museum than school. They have a fabulous facility, with a koi pond and tea house. The principal formally welcomed us to their school and a few of our students said a few words of thanks. Malakai read a Pokemon song, which I think(luckily) sailed over the head of Suzhou's very solemn administrator.
We then visited an ancient village, had another delicious lunch, and headed to the pearl farm. I think every student purchased an item here: it was impossible not to, there were so many choices, and the gleaming white orbs enchanted us. We then went in a small boat and harvested our own pearl-filled oysters. Apparently these oysters grow for seven years; each one had about fifteen pearls on it. Absolutely amazing.
After this fun packed day, we parted ways again. The kids are continuing to enjoy time spent with host families and we will all reconvene tomorrow for our final day together.
I'm tired. But loving China and this whole experience with your wonderful children.
